Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 4 has requested that the Office of the County Engineer manage the study, design and construction of a 35-foot shared use corridor located in the Westchase District in between Briarpark Drive, Westheimer Blvd and Elmside Drive (approximately 0.3 miles).

Expected Impact:

This project would greatly enhance the interconnectivity in the Westchase project area through configuration of the shared use corridor, encouraging and initiating temporary and permanent activities to promote value and desirability to the location. The linear shared use space will allow the formation of a new parklet and allow for amenities, neighborhood activities, and other programming within the walkable neighborhood for the residents to live, visit, and shop without having to commute long distances.

Alternative Options:

Without this project, the proposed community enhancements and County strategic plan goal will not be realized as requested by Precinct 4.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
