Background and Discussion:
Harris County Precinct 2 (PCT2) has requested that the Harris County Engineering Department (HCED) to prepare the design documents for the bridge replacement - Woodforest Blvd at Carpenters Bayou project in Harris County, Texas, Precinct 2. This project consists of crossing of two twin concrete bridges running east-west, each approximately 127 feet long with three spans supported by concrete substructures. Constructed in 1970 and 1982, the bridges accommodate two lanes of traffic on a low-speed (30 mph) road with an average daily traffic volume of approximately 12,000 vehicles. Both bridges need extensive repairs, so the decision was made to replace them. A phasing plan will be developed for bridge replacement with limited roadway reconstruction. This project will include Drainage Analysis, Survey, Geotechnical, SUE, Traffic Control, and Environmental for the project area.
Expected Impact:
LJA Engineering, Inc. will prepare construction documents for the design phase, basic and additional services, for the Woodforest Blvd at Carpenters Bayou Bridge Replacement project.
Alternative Options: If no action is taken, the provision of professional engineering services will be delayed.
