Background and Discussion:
The mechanical and lighting systems at Annex 53 are outdated and have reached the end of their service life. The consultant for this project will provide comprehensive Architectural and MEP engineering design services for the entire Annex 53 facility.
Expected Impact:
Completion of this project will enhance the reliability of the building’s critical infrastructure systems and mitigate risk of catastrophic MEP system failure and service disruption. In addition, the project includes upgrading the existing lighting system to energy-efficient LED fixtures, supporting the County’s Climate Action Plan.
Alternative Options:
The system is currently operating and could remain in service; however, it is aging and increasingly susceptible to failures. If a breakdown occurs, replacement parts are no longer available due to the equipment’s obsolescence, making repairs difficult or impossible.
