Background and Discussion:

 

This project is a coordination effort between Harris County Precinct 4 and METRO to design and construct new bus shelters. Precinct 4 requested that Harris County Engineering Department (HCED) manage the installation of new METRO bus shelters and shelter furnishings at up to 200 shelter ready locations across Precinct 4.

 

Expected Impact:

 

New bus shelters will provide riders with a safe and clean place to wait for bus service as well as enhance the visual appeal of the surrounding location.

 

Alternative Options:

 

Alternative options include installing standard bus shelters, which do not provide a comfortable experience in Houston’s climate or contribute to the visual appeal of the surrounding location.
