Background and Discussion:

This grant program funds the salaries of several grant positions and provides motorists assistance on Harris County freeways and contracting with vendors to remove stalled vehicles. A match is not required and it is unknown if a discretionary match will be needed. The new contract will be sent to Commissioner’s Court for approval when it is finished. The GY 2026 grant period runs from February 1, 2026, through January 31, 2027. This grant will provide funding for 53 PCNs and reimbursable towing services under the program.

Expected Impact:

These grant funds support the removal of stalled and abandoned vehicles in Harris County highways.

Alternative Options:

Without this grant amendment Harris County would forfeit the opportunity to remove stalled and abandoned vehicles in Harris County highways.
