Background and Discussion:

This Agreement is entered into by the contracting parties under Government Code, Chapter 791.

The agreement will allow for the continued connection to and/or use of existing fiber optic cable along portions of TxDOT roadways and right-of-way as well as to provide a new connection.  The connections provide redundancy, resiliency, and sustainable systems to facilitate efficient movement of people, goods, and data throughout the region.  With approval of this agreement, construction will be able to commence for the new connection that will provide the redundant fiber optic cable route to HCTRA’s Administration Building and Secondary Data Center.

The agreement is for a five (5) year period to be renewed by the contracting parties prior to the agreement end date.

Expected Impact:

Providing communications and data redundancy and resiliency to / from the Wilshire Administration Building will provide much needed stability to HCTRA’s main facility.
