Background and Discussion:

The project is located in Northwest Harris County in both the White Oak Bayou and Cypress Creek watersheds, west of North Eldridge Parkway and north of Cypress North Houston Road. The existing drainage system consists of roadside ditches. Proposed improvements include an upgraded storm sewer system and re-grade roadside ditches, and reconstruction of Roadway (Subgrade stabilization, black base and surface coarse installation).

The change in contract includes the following:

The line items are adjusted to reconcile overrun, underrun quantities and add new line items to the project for completion of the proposed scope of work.

•         The increase in quantities for overruns for existing line items 7, 25, 65, 66, 78, 94 and 99 for an addition in the amount of $183,642.13.

•         The decrease in quantities for underruns of existing line items 69, 75, 76, 77 and 91 for a deduction in the amount of $171,250.00.

New Line Items:

•         Added new line item number 105 for 24-inch HDPE pipe, for an addition in the amount of $16,020.31 and zero (0) days.

•         Added new line item number 106 for Decomposed granite driveway for an addition in the amount of $1,176.70 and zero (0) days.

•         Added new line item number 107 for material on hand for underground junction box WSL-14 due to design change of flowline in the amount of $9,285.97 and zero (0) days.

•         Added new line-item number 108 for installation of retaining wall along Alignment A due to the significant vertical elevation difference between the proposed ditch and the adjacent private property in the amount of $28,908.82 and zero (0) days.

The above additions and deductions result in a net change in the amount of $67,783.93 and zero (0) calendar days.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Cypress Creek Estates subdivision

Alternative Options:

The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be compensated for completing the scope of work.
