Background and Discussion:
Harris County’s Department of Economic Equity & Opportunity received approval to move to 1010 Lamar in fiscal year 2025. As part of the move, we will need to purchase cubicles and applicable furniture for the build-out of staff office space. The cubicles will allow DEEO to optimize space for current and additional staff as the department continues to grow. Cubicles will save on the cost of building out offices and allow for accommodating all staff in the limited space available.
Expected Impact:
The cubicles for this request will allow for space optimization in the new building. Staff will be housed in teams, allowing for better collaboration and the overall flow of the space. Cubicles were chosen for the majority of staff to lower the cost and time of construction and to accommodate all staff. We will also be able to add additional cubicles at a later time should we continue to grow past the current allotted number of cubicles. This request does not require additional funds as it will be covered by existing DEEO budget; no additional funding is being requested.
Alternative Options:
Commissioners Court can choose not to approve this request, which will hinder DEEO’s ability to make the move to 1010 Lamar.
