Background and Discussion:

The County wishes to execute an agreement with Agility Engineering and Management Inc., to conduct the study and design for improvements to Clay Road from Porter Road to Katy Hockley Cut-off Road.  The total length of the project is approximately 1.2 miles and consists of replacing the existing Two Lane Road with a Four Lane Concrete Boulevard, with sidewalks, curb and gutters, detention basin and a storm sewer system. Also, the existing signal at Katy Hockley Cutoff Road will be improved.

Expected Impact:

This project would provide a standard roadway along Clay Road which will handle the demands of the current and future traffic volumes. The improvement will alleviate congestion, reduce delays, and provide safe mobility for residents, pedestrians, and drivers in Northwest Katy. This project improves the existing roads enhancing and the mobility options for the motorized and non-motorized modes, safer and more efficient connectivity and in addition, providing better drainage system for the surrounding communities; followed by developing improvement to address the safety, and mobility to each location to provide safer travel.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, the residents and road users will not benefit from the mobility and drainage improvements.
