Transmittal by the Sheriff’s Office of a proposal of partnership and agreement with EntrepreneuHER Reentry Program for a specialized entrepreneur certification course designed to complement and support the existing reentry program at the Women’s Empowerment Center at no cost to the county.
end
Background and Discussion:
EntrenpreneuHER agrees to provide a 6-week, 36-hour certified entrepreneur course for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women, equipping them with foundational business, financial, and entrepreneurial skills. Participants receive individualized instruction, develop business plans, and prepare for the nationally recognized U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification Examination.
Expected Impact:
Mission: Empowering incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women through entrepreneurship education, financial literacy, and workforce development, equipping them with the skills, mindset, and resources to achieve financial independence, reduce recidivism, and build sustainable futures.
Vision: To create a world where every woman, regardless of her past, has the opportunity to reclaim her future through entrepreneurship, fostering economic empowerment, self-sufficiency, and community transformation.
Need for the Program
Women leaving incarceration face limited employment opportunities due to stigma and legal barriers. Entrepreneurship provides a viable path to financial independence and a sense of purpose. While the Women’s Empowerment Center offers robust reentry services, this proposal fills a gap by introducing a targeted entrepreneurship certification program within reentry services-empowering women to create their own employment opportunities upon release.
