Background and Discussion:
This project is located at Huffmeister Road and Fallbrook Drive, Houston, TX 77065. The project drains into HCFCD Unit No. E133-00-00. The scope and proposed improvements include providing stormwater detention storage to reduce flooding for subdivisions which drain to E133-00-00 and E133-01-00. It will also serve to mitigate two future drainage improvement projects: (1) within the Barwood Subdivision that ultimately outfalls into E133-00-00 and (2) the future Fallbrook Drive extension to Huffmeister Road to the existing Fallbrook Drive is located at the eastern ROW of HCFCD Unit E133-00-00.
The change in contract includes the following:
The line items are adjusted to reconcile overrun and underrun quantities on the project for completion of the proposed scope of work.
• The increase of quantities on overrun line-item numbers 17, 23, 24, 27 and 55 for an addition in the amount of $20,603.10.
• The decrease of quantities on underrun line-item numbers 4, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 19, 25, 30, 32, 33, 34, 42, 51, 52, 54, 57, 58, 60, 61, 62 for a deduction in the amount of $129,797.42
• Addition includes 88 days due to Abnormally heavy and persistent rainfall and due to delay caused by the third-party utility owner (Kinder Morgan)
The above additions and deductions result in a net change in the amount of -$109,194.32 and 88 days addition.
Expected Impact:
This project seeks to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the Wortham Estates subdivision.
Alternative Options:
The County could elect to fund the requested task or choose to reject it. However, if not approved, the contractor will not be compensated for completing the scope of work.
