Background and Discussion:

The Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) reimburses states, local governments for up to 50% of the cost of armor for eligible officers. The program helps agencies access rigorously tested, NIJ-certified vests- ensuring that protection meets national safety standards and financial constraints. This grant would provide funding for bulletproof vests for the Sheriff’s Office for the period of September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2027.

Expected Impact:

The program helps agencies access rigorously tested, NIJ-certified vests- ensuring that protection meets national safety standards and financial constraints This grant funding will enhance officer safety by helping reduce injuries and fatalities resulting from firearm assaults.

Alternative Options:

Not applying for this grant would result in the Sheriff’s Office forfeiting the opportunity to receive federal reimbursement for the purchase of bulletproof vests.
