Background and Discussion:

The Almeda Heights subdivision consists of 18 approximately half acre single-family residential lots. Four of the 18 lots are undeveloped. The subdivision utilizes roadside ditches to convey drainage. Fellows Road and Grammar Street drain toward Labrador and then north, outfalling into HCFCD Ditch C139-00-00 in the Clear Creek Watershed. Drainage analysis of the subdivision began in late 2019 as a part of the 2018 Bond program for subdivision drainage improvements. The scope and proposed improvements consist of re-grading the existing roadside ditches at 0.1% slope and reshaping the cross sections to meet Harris County Engineering Department requirements. Driveway culverts will be removed and replaced with larger sizes as outlined in this analysis

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to 18 lots in the community. This change in contract is a step in the construction process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners.
