Background and Discussion:
This change in contract is needed to complete the construction contract for this project. General Drainage
System Repairs (North) includes erosion and slope failure repair, sediment removal and disposal, installation of granular fill and riprap, and the removal and replacement of various drainage structures such as pipes, headwalls, wingwalls, concrete channel linings, low-flow sections, and outfall structures. The purpose of this contract change is to add project scope to complete the construction of the project site P130-09-00-X009. The
contract change includes the addition of new bid item for the installation of a drainage structure.
Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood
risk reduction benefits.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract, which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
