Background and Discussion:
The Superintendent of Schools for Goose Creek CISD contacted Constable Sherman Eagleton requesting assistance due to their Chief of Police abruptly resigning. Due to the unforeseen circumstance, the Superintendent had no one prepared or qualified to assume the leadership position leaving the law enforcement agency without an administrator. The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement requires all agencies to have someone appointed as the Chief of Police or Agency Administrator. Goose Creek CISD is in the boundaries of Precinct 3 Constable’s Office. The safety and security of the children in this school district are of the utmost importance to Constable Eagleton. Constable Eagleton has selected Chief Deputy K. Bonsal to assist the district by providing leadership and he will assume the duties on an interim basis as Chief of Police. This assistance is temporary as indicated by the MOU put in place while the district considers their options to solve the leadership problem on a permanent basis. As agreed upon by both parties, Goose Creek CISD will compensate Harris County at a weekly rate of $1,000.00.
