Background and Discussion:

This project is located in northeast Harris County in the Jackson Bayou watershed. It is to the west of Beaumont Highway. The existing conditions of the Runneburg Estates are roadside ditches that ultimately into HCFCD channel R100-00-00. The proposed improvements are to regrade roadside ditches, construct a new outfall, and a new detention pond for the Runneburg Estates subdivision.

The additional funds will cover the construction phase services agreement to allow for construction oversight of the project.

Expected Impact:

This project seeks to reduce flood risk and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. Engineering support during the construction of the improvements is a step in the process to reduce the financial, physical, and emotional burden flood damage places on homeowners and will reduce the financial impact of recovery costs to the Crosby Township - Runneburg Project area, Harris County, and FEMA. The fiscal impact for this project will come from the 1080 Fund for the Recovery and Resiliency Division subdivision projects with the long-term goal of reducing drainage costs in the future. No impact to project schedule or staffing anticipated.

Alternative Options:

If no action is taken, the engineer of record will not be accessible for support through the
construction of the project.
