Project Description:
The project aims to purchase (3) new vehicles and equipment for the Harris County Judge’s Office to be utilized for community outreach and engagement. The addition of these new resources will empower our staff to promptly address the rising demand for community outreach, enabling them to effectively advocate within our community.
Project Scope:
The CJO Fleet Acquisition project aims to enhance operational efficiency and reliability within the County Judge’s Office’s daily operations. The anticipated vehicles, detailed below, are strategically designed to elevate performance and meet evolving demands. This would allow for staff to attend additional county functions, events, meetings, presentations, and conferences that will benefit Harris County.

Justification:
In alignment with the County policy on non-voted commercial paper, we seek an allocation of $170,000 for the acquisition of approximately (3) new vehicles and equipment to meet the demand for community outreach and engagement. The current equipment capacity falls short and relies on staff members’ personal vehicles.
Alternatives and Engagement:
The alternative for not acquiring new vehicles and equipment would be to continue utilizing staff’s personal vehicles to engage with the community and seek mileage reimbursement afterwards or simply being unable to fulfill the constituent’s request for outreach/engagement.
