Background and Discussion:
Harris County Sheriff’s Office seeks to extend the term of the commercial office lease agreement for thirty-six (36) consecutive months in the amount of $1.00 per year for the benefit of the East Patrol Bureau District III. The term of the renewal will begin January 1, 2025, and will expire December 31, 2027 with a right to terminate the lease with a sixty (60) day notice. The space is used by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office CIB Detectives, for general office purposes and other lawful purposes.
Expected Impact:
Through the renewal of the lease agreement, HCSO will be able to continue offering a continued presence at the Highlands storefront location on S. Main St. at a minimal cost of $1.00 per year.
Alternative Options:
There are no other variable options for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to remain in the area for $1 per year. Any alternative options for similar sized office space would likely include a higher rental amount in addition to relocation costs.
