Background and Discussion:

On October 8, 2024, Commissioners’ Court accepted the FEMA award totaling $2,273,163 with a required

match of $568,291. This is an Amendment to a grant award and should have no impact on the general fund of the county departments. This amendment extends the grant end date from 08/31/2027 to 08/31/2028.

Expected Impact:

The additional time will allow various departments to complete their projects. This award contains a total of

five (5) projects. No additional budget impact to Harris County is expected from the approval.

Alternative Options:

If the FEMA FY2024 Port Security grant is not extended, there is a risk that funds will not be distributed before the end of the current time of performance. Federal government shutdowns directly affected the award.
