Project Description:
The project aims to purchase a new portable, trailer-mounted generator and equipment for the Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management to ensure uninterrupted operations during power outages.
Project Scope:
The portable, trailer-mounted generator and equipment project is geared towards providing a reliable backup power source to our warehouse. The warehouse is a rented facility that is utilized to store essential equipment and supplies aimed at protecting the County during times of disaster. The generator safeguards against disruptions in production, inventory management, and order fulfillment.

Justification:
In alignment with the new County policy on non-voted commercial paper, we seek an allocation of $118,466 in FY24 for the acquisition of a portable, trailer-mounted generator and equipment to meet the demand for continuous power at our warehouse facility and support our COOP (Continuity of Operations Plan). The current equipment capacity falls short and relies on a small, portable generator that is only able to meet the demands of a 2,000 square foot facility and not the 30,000 square foot warehouse that we have.
Alternatives and Engagement:
The alternative for not acquiring a new portable, trailer-mounted generator and equipment would be to continue utilizing a small generator or simply being unable to business continuity to send and receive needed supplies and equipment throughout the county during times of disaster.
