Background and Discussion:
The Office of the County Engineer Harris County Engineering Department has recommended 9 disaster recovery projects to be funded by the CDBG-MIT grant valued at approximately $150,000,000. The 9 projects are ambitiously planned to be delivered over a 4 year period. To effectively deliver the projects within this accelerated timeframe, management resources are required, including external personnel for Program Management, Project Management (Design and Construction) and Construction inspection. Additionally, external resources are required to perform environmental studies to support grant application approval.
Expected Impact:
Successful completion of the projects funded by the CDBG-MIT program will aim to reduce flooding and strengthen resiliency in Harris County by assisting in the alleviation of structural flood damage to homes in the community. This Program Management consultant will provide services to deliver these projects according to quality, schedule and budget requirements.
Alternative Options:
Alternative options are expected to be more costly or to risk efficient and timely project delivery. Alternatives include either provision of project specific consultants, or no external consultants.
Alignment with Goal(s):
_ Justice and Safety
_ Economic Opportunity
_ Housing
_ Public Health
X Transportation
X Flooding
_ Environment
_ Governance and Customer Service
