Background and Discussion:

The proposed Rapid Ambient Air Monitoring (RAAM) vehicle will easily access any residential community and will be able to assess air quality in near real-time and provide PCS with high temporal and spatial resolution data during routine surveys and emergency events.

Expected Impact:

Will increase Pollution Control Services’ (PCS) capacity to detect and quantify multiple toxic compounds at single part per billion concentrations in ambient air throughout Harris County.

Alternative Options:

If not approved, PCS will rely on older, less reliable, equipment that detects fewer compounds. Some mobile air monitoring services may need to be outsourced
