Project Description:

The whole property located at 7850 Sugarland Howell Road, including the former Alief YMCA building and facilities, was recently permanently closed by the YMCA due to cuts in federal funding. Currently, there is no Harris County community center in the area, and due to the ongoing community need for County services, Precinct 4 is in negotiations to purchase the property and facilities, including all equipment. Precinct 4 will re-open the facility as a community center and services hub.  It will also serve a public safety function by being used as a possible warming/cooling center during emergency response operations, as well as providing working space for local law enforcement entities.
