Background and Discussion:

Pretrial Services is requesting a parking allowance for front-line staff to enhance employee retention and subsidize the financial burden of working in an urban setting.  The agency has identified areas in the non-labor budget to forgo in order to provide this added tangible benefit to employees.  Parking prices surge to $30-$40 when there are special events downtown which can be very cost prohibitive for many of the staff.

Parking has been a topic of discussion for many years and the agency has worked with the Parking Coordinators to provide parking for the evening and midnight shifts.  Unfortunately, the agency has not been successful in identifying designated parking for the rest of the staff who are most impacted by the parking surges.

Expected Impact:

Offering a parking allowance of $55.00 per pay period will make our agency more attractive to potential hires, enhance employee satisfaction, and alleviate some of the financial burden of parking costs.
