Background and Discussion:

The project goal is to mitigate the impacts of the urban heat island effect within the Alief community by planting trees on various traffic medians within the public right-of-way and creating a linear forest.

Expected Impact:

The project will enhance pedestrian mobility through the application of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). This approach will help to create defensible spaces that deter potential criminal activity by increasing community awareness and natural surveillance.

Alternative Options:

Alternative option includes choosing not to proceed with planting trees on various traffic medians within the public right-of-way throughout the Alief community.
