Background and Discussion:

The project involves constructing new roadways-Marron Park Way and Maplewood Trailhead Lane-and new parking areas beneath the Lockwood Overpass, along with a traffic signal at the intersection of Marron Park Way and Lockwood Drive.  It also includes the construction of a retaining wall, stormwater drainage system, and extensions of water and sanitary lines connecting to existing utilities along Lockwood Drive.  Additional improvements consist of sidewalks, trails, and the installation of decorative streetlight, pedestrian pathway, and parking lot lighting.

This Change Order addresses time extensions only, with a total cost of $53,845.40  This cost will be covered entirely by reallocating funds from various bid items, and no additional funds will be added to the contract.  New bid items will be established to account for the work, and calendar days will be added to the contract schedule as outlined below:

PCO#8 - Chain link Fence - Field Condition

Construction activities, particularly during retaining wall installation, have impacted the existing fence securing the adjacent Harris County Sheriff's Office, compromising site security.  This change adds 121 LF of temporary fencing and approximately 470 LF of permanent 6-foot chain-link fencing with barbed wire, including one sliding gate and one pedestrian swing gate - 10 Days

PCO#9 - Utilities under Lockwood Drive - Field Conditions

Steel casing is required for the Lockwood sanitary line crossing to comply with design standards.  The design firm confirmed it is needed from manhole to manhole to protect the carrier pipe from traffic loads, prevent damage, and ensure long-term system integrity - 10 Days

PCO#10 - Inlet Top Modification - Field Conditions

The existing inlet along Lockwood is being modified from a Type C to a Type A (grate) inlet to improve drainage in the landscaped area.  The current configuration restricts surface runoff, and this revision, approved by all parties, is necessary to ensure proper drainage and prevent future maintenance issues - 6 Days

Expected Impact:

This action allows for the completion of the project as designed and per the contract documents and the Contractor to be compensated for the actual work performed.
