Background and Discussion:

The Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response experienced a 28% reduction in the largest funding source of their operations. As a result, we request to update the funding source of one position from the GY25 Public Health Emergency Preparedness, Cities Readiness Initiative grant to the Centers for Disease Control Workforce grant and one position from the FY26 Public Health Emergency Preparedness Hazards grant to GY25 Public Health Emergency Preparedness, Cities Readiness Initiative grant to allow our agency to continue emergency preparedness and response efforts. This preparedness and response team is vital in developing, maintaining, and mobilizing resources in response to threats against the health and safety of communities such as infectious disease outbreaks, natural disasters, bioterrorism events and other large-scale public health threats. These funding updates are necessary to ensure continuity of operations, avoid service disruption, and sustain the agency’s capacity to respond effectively to ongoing public health emergency needs.

Expected Impact:

Updating these position’s funding sources will allow Public Health to absorb the reduction in funding with minimal impact to personnel employment.
