Project Description:

The project will connect both the Mercer Botanical Gardens and the Baldwin Boettcher Library to the public sewer system.

Project Scope:

The project will construct approximately 850’ of sewer line and connect both the Mercer Botanical Gardens and the Baldwin Boettcher Library to the public sewer system.  The project also includes a meter and tap fee to pay for improved connections to public water service for this area of the park.  The water service improvements will also benefit both the library and the botanic gardens.

Justification:

This project will benefit residents by providing more reliable, healthier source of water.

Alternatives and Engagement:

The current septic system at Mercer Botanical Gardens is inadecuate because it is out of code, and because it relies on well water.  The new arrangement will significantly reduce our use of well water, and will bring the systems up to code.  Furthermore, these improvements will reduce ongoing maintenance expence by eliminating one lift station.
