Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 2 submitted a request to the Office of the County Engineer to conduct the planning study of Hopper Road Corridor, from Hardy Toll Road to Hirsch Road of approximately 3.3 miles. The goal is to develop a corridor study focused on public safety and community input. To meet the Revive2 Thrive vision of Precinct 2 for empowering communities and creating opportunities to existing neighborhoods, the project will study, evaluate, and analyze for roadway, drainage, traffic, and sidewalk improvements on Hopper Road from Hardy Toll Road to Hirsch Road.

Expected Impact:

The professional services will conduct the assessment of the existing roadway, drainage, and

pedestrian elements of the corridor and provide recommendations. This study will incorporate pedestrian and bicycle facilities that promote safety throughout the corridor and will spur economic development.

Alternative Options:

Without the proposed study, roadway improvements on Veterans Memorial Drive and Fallbrook Drive will be conducted without a concept developed through community engagement. This may result in improvements that may not match the community’s vision for this corridor.

County Strategic Plan Goal:  2. Connect our community with safe, reliable, equitably distributed, and well-maintained infrastructure.
