Background and Discussion:

The ARPA Food and Nutrition Portfolio funds transformative programs aimed at addressing food insecurity and strengthening the food and nutrition infrastructure in Harris County, enabling and increasing partnerships across entities and enhancing produce availability and presence in food deserts. The decision to reduce Houston Food Bank’s ARPA funding was made in response to the recently approved de-obligation from ARPA Food & Nutrition portfolio funding.

Expected Impact: Strengthen Houston Food Bank’s food distribution infrastructure, support local farmers and organizations, and improve County residents’ health through expanded access to fresh produce and nutrition education.
