Background and Discussion:
In 2024, UT Health was awarded $5,444,524 to implement Harris County Accessible Child Care Training & Supports (ACCTS), an initiative designed to strengthen the county’s child care workforce through career advancement and professional development. ACCTS supports current and aspiring child care professionals, including directors, teachers, staff, and home-based providers, through training, credentialing, scholarships, and other workforce supports. By pairing high-quality professional development opportunities with compensation and financial assistance, the program seeks to increase participation and retention while promoting economic mobility within the child care sector.
As ACCTS approaches closeout, current projections indicate that approximately $311,108.87 in ARPA funding will remain unspent by the grant end date. To maximize the use of available public funds before the applicable expenditure deadline, the Project Management Office is requesting a budget amendment to reduce the ACCTS program budget by $311,108.87 and de-obligate the projected balance. The funds would then be reallocated to support an eligible priority initiative within the Housing Team.

The adjusted budget will ensure an accurate spenddown of the ARPA funds used to support the ACCTS budget.
