Background and Discussion:
It is recommended that the Flood Control District be authorized to accept grant award funds from the Watershed Protection Plan Implementation Grant to fund the tree planting and maintenance at the Skinner Road Stormwater Detention Basin (K545-06-00) in the Cypress Creek Watershed. Funding is available through the Texas A&M Forest Service. The proposed project will plant and maintain 500 trees for 2 years at the K545-06-00 Stormwater Detention Basin.
Expected Impact:
The proposed project will plant and maintain 500 trees for 2 years at the K545-06-00 Stormwater Detention Basin. The Flood Control District will utilize its resources and applicable consultants during the project, as well as the management of the grant approval process in compliance with Harris County statutes, applicable laws of the state of Texas, and Policy regarding Federal Grant Awards.
Alternative Options:
The alternative would be not to accept this grant award. The Flood Control District would need to utilize a different funding source to pay for this project.
