Background and Discussion:

Request for approval to award contract to Statewide Traffic Signal Company for rebuilding three traffic signals in the City of Piney Point Village, UPIN: 23103MF2V801, Precinct 3, MWDBE Contracted Goal: 16.91%.

Traffic signals are rebuilt to improve the operation of an intersection and better facilitate pedestrian activities. The existing traffic signals in the City of Piney Point Village were installed over 20 years ago. Re-building these signals will ensure the intersections are brough up to compliance with current standards and provide pedestrian connectivity. This rebuild project is a collaborative effort between City of Piney Point Village, Precinct 3, and the Office of the County Engineer (OCE).

Expected Impact:

Rebuilding the traffic signals will bring the infrastructure to current standards and specifications and reduce overall maintenance cost. It will also significantly reduce the risk of failure during a catastrophic event.

Alternative Options:

Should the award recommendation not be executed, rebidding the project will be required, which will extend the existing project schedule.
