Background and Discussion:

Harris County Precinct 4 seeks to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Literacy Now, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving literacy outcomes for children and families. Through this partnership, Literacy Now will provide its Reading Express and book distribution programs at the Steve Radack Community Center. These initiatives aim to promote reading readiness, improve literacy skills, and increase access to books and reading resources for families within the community.

All services will be provided at no cost to the County

Expected Impact:

This collaboration will expand access to essential literacy resources and programming for children and families in Precinct 4. By hosting Reading Express sessions and distributing free books, the County will support early literacy development, foster a lifelong love of reading, and help close literacy gaps across the community. These efforts will enhance educational outcomes and strengthen family engagement, contributing to improved long-term academic success.
