Background and Discussion:
The project scope is split into two distinct scope packages:
Stair Pressurization Project: This package includes the Engineering and design to provide a code compliant Stair Pressurization system to the existing building. Two fans will be located on the roof, one for each stair. This includes new vertical risers in fire rated shafts from the roof down to the first floor. This project also includes a new 277/480v-3ph4W. 60KW/75KVA natural gas generator to provide emergency back-up power to the new Stair Pressurization Fans.
Chilled Water Upgrades: This project includes connecting the building to Centrio Energy's underground chilled water distribution system. The scope is to connect to Centrio's provided heat exchangers down in the basement level of the 1111 Main St. garage, install new chilled water pumps on the first floor of the garage that will provide chilled water to the buildings Air Handling Units via new chilled water piping. Once connected to Centrio's chilled water system the existing water-cooled Chillers, chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, Cooling Tower and all associated supports are to be removed from the building and disposed of. All aforementioned equipment is located on the roof and the 19th floor of 1010 Lamar.
Expected Impact:
The project objectives are to modernize the building’s critical stairwell pressurization system for fire safety and increase the operational capacity of Annex 48’s HVAC system to meet the current demand.
Alternative Options:
No other recommended option for this identified need.
