Request by the Sheriff’s Office for approval to temporarily transfer general funds in the amount of $100,000 to support administrative operations pending receipt of the FY 2027 Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) Center Grant.

Background and Discussion:
This temporary transfer will support the administrative aspects of TAG Center operation until the FY 2027 award is received. This grant has no statutory cash match requirements and will require no local discretionary funding. The Texas Anti-Gang (TAG) grant program for local governments administered by the Office of Public Safety through the Office of the Texas Governor supports regional, multidisciplinary approaches to combat gang violence through the coordination of gang prevention, intervention, and suppression activities across the state.
Expected Impact:
The intended impact of this project is improved identification of gang members and affiliates, better monitoring of criminal activity within correctional facilities, and enhanced intelligence support to law enforcement agencies, ultimately reducing gang-related violence and organized crime threats in the community.
Alternative Options:
If this temporary transfer is not approved, it will disrupt administrative services for the Houston TAG Center.
