Request for approval of an affiliation agreement with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston on behalf of its School of Dentistry for the purpose of providing internship experiences to students at no cost to the county.

Background and Discussion:
The service agreement with the UTHEALTH Houston will provide internships for students. The county will benefit from the services provided by the student interns and in turn will provide professional development and training to the students. There is no cost to the county.
Expected Impact:
The purpose of the program is to improve human health by providing high-quality educational experiences, patient care and services by increasing the number of professionals trained in public health. The program will train students to provide care for patients of underrepresented backgrounds while building skills, competencies foundational knowledge, and hands-on activities in public health settings.
