Background and Discussion:
On Monday April 22, EPA notified the Office of Sustainability that Harris County’s application for EPA’s Solar For All competition had been awarded $249.7 million. Harris County served as the lead applicant for the Texas Solar for All coalition comprising a number of cities, counties, and non-profits across the state. The grant will fund the expansion of access to affordable solar energy for low-income residents across the state of Texas. Harris County will proceed to negotiations with EPA regarding a final Solar For All award which is expected no later than September 30, 2024.
