Background and Discussion:

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Commission will serve in an advisory capacity and make recommendations to the Court to improve economic, social, health, and safety outcomes for AAPI residents of Harris County. The proposed bylaws establish a commission consisting of 9 court-appointed positions, including 5 assigned positions (1 per court office), and 4 at-large positions appointed by a majority vote of the Court. Members will initially serve staggered terms, with odd-numbered positions serving for three (3) years and even-numbered positions serving for two (2) years.
