Background and Discussion:
The Flood Control District is constructing a soil/bentonite slurry wall beneath the levee and geosynthetic lining of the levee slope to address the potential for water intrusion at the Inverness Forest Levee, as well as install flag gates on the existing pump station discharge pipes to prevent backflow into the system. This contract change is to add 38 days to the contract time due to wet conditions and the need for a final survey.
Expected Impact:
This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.
Alternative Options:
This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
