Background and Discussion:
In January of 2012, the city developed a Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Master Plan to assist with the renovation and development of recreational opportunities. This project is the next phase of a hike and bike feasibility study that was conducted by the city. The project would connect the Deer Park Nature Preserve to the Deer Park Adult Sports Complex. The amendment is needed to update the new funding amount.

Expected Impact:

This project will add an estimated 1.6 miles of additional hike and bike trails that will connect an additional 1.7 miles of constructed trails, as well as 5 parks and a flood mitigation area. This project will also allow the city to continue the Master Plan and connect to the La Porte and Bay Area Hike and Bike Trail Systems.

Alternative Options:

Fewer recreational opportunities within the city.
