Harris County Pretrial Services is modernizing its support for survivors of violent crime by transitioning from bulky, secondary hardware to the Advocate app delivered by the current vendor Sentinel. Unlike traditional tracking devices that are cumbersome to carry and require constant charging, this streamlined application is downloaded directly onto the victim’s smartphone.
The app enhances personal safety by providing real-time location tracking relative to established stationary exclusion zones, delivering immediate notifications if those boundaries are compromised. Furthermore, the Advocate app centralizes emergency resources by allowing users to dial 911 directly within the interface, ensuring a faster response during critical moments.
