Background and Discussion:
The project consists of rebuilding the traffic signal at twelve (12) existing intersections to enhance traffic operations and improve overall mobility. To establish the necessary electrical service for these upgraded traffic signals, a Service Outlet Location Statement (SOLS) with CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC is required.

Expected Impact:
Approval of the Service Outlet Location Statement (SOLS) will allow CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC to establish electrical service to the reconstructed traffic signals, which is necessary to support enhanced traffic operations at the twelve (12) project intersections.
Alternative Options:
All traffic signals require a dependable power source, which is typically provided by CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC. Since this project involves upgrading the existing traffic signals, the only other option would be to install a generator; however, a generator does not provide reliable continuous power for traffic signal operation. The remaining option would be to leave the existing intersections without an upgraded traffic signal. Both alternatives would negatively affect intersection operations and increase delays for the traveling public.
