Request for approval to change the name of the County asset from “East Harris County Healthcare and Social Services Hub” to “Channelview Foundation of Hope” at 15430 East Freeway, Channelview, TX 77530, Precinct 2.

Background and Discussion:
At the inception of the project at 15430 East Freeway (Interstate Highway 10 East), a technical name describing the function of the facility was assigned to the project. As the facility became a reality it became known as the “Channelview Foundation of Hope” to the neighborhood and employees. For security and maintenance and repair, the asset remains to be known as approved by Commissioner’s Court.
This request for Court Action is for a name change. No funding is requested with this change.
Expected Impact:
Aligning the technical name to the locally known name allows for more efficient County mobilization of services in the future.
Alternative Options:
Train personnel at the facility to request services, including life safety, under a different name than when conversing with the general public.
