Background and Discussion:

The Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Annual Luncheon & Business Expo is one of the largest business convenings in the Greater Houston region, bringing together approximately 2,000 entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, small business owners, elected officials, and job seekers.

Hosted by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the event serves as a premier platform to highlight economic development, workforce initiatives, and the impact of the Hispanic business community, which represents an estimated $55 billion in spending power in the Houston area. The expo and networking environment provide direct engagement opportunities with business leaders, community stakeholders, and residents, reinforcing the importance of in-person connections for workforce and economic mobility.

Sponsorship of this event aligns with the County’s strategic priorities related to economic development, small business support, and workforce engagement. Participation provides an opportunity for the County to share programs and services, strengthen partnerships with the business community, and support initiatives that advance inclusive economic growth.

Expected Impact:

•                     Strengthen Economic Development Efforts: Support a high-impact regional event that promotes business growth, entrepreneurship, and economic activity across diverse industries.

•                     Enhance Small Business Engagement: Provide direct access to over 80 exhibitors and a large network of entrepreneurs and business leaders, fostering connections that support local business expansion.

•                     Expand Workforce Opportunities: Increase awareness of workforce programs and career pathways by engaging with job seekers and professionals in attendance.

•                     Promote Community Outreach and Visibility: Position the County as an active partner in supporting the Hispanic business community and broader economic inclusion efforts.

•                     Leverage High-Impact Networking: Support participation in an event where in-person engagement has been shown to drive professional connections and business opportunities.

Overall, the sponsorship is anticipated to contribute to long-term economic mobility, increased business participation, and strengthened partnerships between the County and the regional business community.

 Alternative Options:

The County would not participate in this high-impact regional event, resulting in a missed opportunity to engage with a large network of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders. Additionally, the Court may choose to provide partial sponsorship, limiting the level of participation, visibility, and resource sharing at the event.
