Request that the County Judge execute the first amendment to an agreement with Cypress Creek Friends of the Library d/b/a Barbara Bush Library Friends (BBLF) to provide all funding and painting/renovation services and materials of certain interior spaces necessary to complete a project at an HCPL facility. Directing OCE to install and maintain the custom carpet and paint, with attic stock from the project. Neither the County nor HCPL will provide any funding for the project.

Background and Discussion: Barbara Bush Library Friends’s is an non profit organization created to support the Barabra Bush Branch Library. In their efforts to create a safe and invite space for branch patrons, the BBLF is seeking to make cosmetic changes to the branch creating a “Teen Space” for youth programing and engagement.
Expected Impact: This work will create a safe and inviting space for teens to engage with Library resources such as books, technology, programing and other literacy and education related services.
Alternative Options: Harris County Public Library would have to use general funds, or seek grant funding to complete the changes needed to create the teen space.
