Background and Discussion:
The primary objective of this project is the removal of approximately 341,982 cubic yards (CY) of unpermitted fill from the floodway of Greens Bayou. The location of this material currently influences sheet flow patterns to adjacent properties, causing excessive flooding. Removal of the fill material is integral to restoring the altered floodplain to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) effective model.
Expected Impact:
Overall objective is to remove the unpermitted fill from the floodway and allow the floodplain to return to its FEMA effective model.
Alternative Options:
No Action Alternative would fail to meet the purpose and needs of mitigating flood risk for this Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-MIT) funded project. Under the No action alternative, area residents would continue to be affected by area flooding.
