Background and Discussion:

The project is located in northwest Harris County in the White Oak Bayou watershed. Barwood consists of a curb and gutter with storm sewer drainage system that drains into HCFCD channels E132-00-00 and E133-00-00. The proposed improvements increase the size and capacity of the storm sewer system within the neighborhood with mitigation provided by the E132-00-00-00 Mitigation Project along the E132-00-00 channel and internal mitigation for improvements draining to E133-00-00. The scope and proposed improvements include storm sewer improvements, road reconstruction, replacement of driveways and driveway culverts. Improvements will comply with Harris County standards.

Expected Impact:

This agreement will allow the firm to conduct field and laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt and various other construction materials to ensure the material’s compliance with Harris County Engineering Department’s adopted standards and specifications as required by state law.

Alternative Options:

Construction materials testing is required by state law.  Thus, alternatives include issuing a purchase order for similar services to a different vendor or cancelling this construction project.
