Background and Discussion:

The Meyergrove Detention Basin includes the construction of the D500-11-00 Stormwater Detention Basin as well as a maintenance access path. The purpose of this contract change is to add 48 days (20 days for inclement weather days incurred beyond the original contract allotment and 28 days for testing and disposal of treatment plant effluent that overflowed into the basin.

Expected Impact:

This change will allow the contractor to construct the project so that Harris County can realize intended flood risk reduction benefits.

Alternative Options:

This is an active construction contract, so there are not many alternatives to approving a change order other than cancelling the contract which is not recommended as doing so would substantially delay the remaining work in the construction contract.
