Background and Discussion:
Precinct 2 requests that the Office of the County Engineer (OCE) manage the Planning Study-Master Plan at Moody Park. Friends of Moody Park seeks help to assess critical aspects of park improvement, including safety, amenities, infrastructure, accessibility, greenspace, expansion opportunities, and social considerations, and provide a vision and plan for the future of Moody Park. Project Stakeholders include Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Houston Parks Board, Friends of Moody Park, Hollywood Coalition Friends of Moody Park, in collaboration with Harris County Precinct 2. The Master Plan will act as a strategic framework to guide the park’s development and transformation over the next decade, ensuring its infrastructure, amenities, and natural features are optimized to meet its users' evolving needs.
Expected Impact:
The Master Plan will prioritize community-driven design by incorporating extensive public input and stakeholder engagement. Through workshops, surveys, and outreach initiatives, the plan will capture the aspirations and needs of local residents, advocacy groups, and civic organizations.
Alternative Options:
Failure to study the park will result in continued lack of framework for park improvements for the community.
